Nursing Holds a wonderful Future

The Connecticut State Department of Public Health's (DPH) mission is to protect the health and safety of the people of Connecticut and actively work to prevent disease and promote wellness through education and programs.

DPH is proud to serve Connecticut as the states lead agency for public health policy and advocacy. The agency is at the center of a comprehensive network of public health services, and is a partner to local health departments for which it provides advocacy, training and certification, technical assistance and consultation, and specialty services such as risk assessment.

DPH employs 76 Nurse Consultants and 17 Supervising Nurse Consultants within the Bureau of Healthcare Systems and the Bureau of Community Health. The department is an equal opportunity employer that offers state employee benefit packages and competitive salaries.

Nurses employed within DPH perform a variety of public health services and duties inclusive of regulatory oversight of health care institutions and practitioners and community program development and enhancement. Since the department is involved in all aspects of the health care industry as well as community health initiatives, there is a wide range of exciting opportunities for a nurse to utilize his/her skills and experiences. Positions in DPH will allow a nurse to directly participate in activities which impact the quality of health care provided to Connecticuts residents.
